GAF Partners with Habitat for Humanity of Harvey County to Donate Roof to Local Family

GAF

GAF, North America’s largest roofing and waterproofing manufacturer, partnered with Habitat for Humanity of Harvey County to support the completion of a new home for a local family of four in Hesston, Kansas. The home spans 1,360 square feet and includes a single-car garage.

Roofing Services, a local GAF-certified contractor, volunteered their labor for the roofing installation, while GAF donated the roofing materials and warranty.

“This partnership with GAF represents exactly what Habitat for Humanity is all about—neighbors coming together to lift each other up,” said Ron Flaming, Chairman of Habitat for Humanity of Harvey County. “Thanks to GAF’s generous support and Roofing Services’ dedication, this family now has a strong, reliable roof over their heads and a fresh start in a home built with love, care, and community spirit.”

GAF recently announced plans to build a state-of-the-art shingle factory that will create new, good-paying jobs and support the greater Newton, Kansas area through meaningful community involvement. Construction of the facility is expected to begin this summer with production anticipated to begin in 2027 and reach full production capacity by mid 2029.

“Supporting the needs of our neighbors in Harvey County is a priority for GAF as it becomes a member of this community,” said Andrew Shoults, plant manager at the new GAF Newton facility. “We are proud to provide a strong and safe roof over the heads of this family in need and look forward to continuing to work with organizations in the area as we gear up for the construction of our new facility in Newton.”

This collaboration is part of GAF’s social impact initiative, GAF Community Matters, which is focused on making a positive difference as neighbors and partners in the community by leveraging roofing expertise, resources and products to help build resilient communities.

About Habitat for Humanity of Harvey County

Habitat for Humanity of Harvey County is a volunteer-led affiliate of Habitat for Humanity International working to ensure that every family has access to safe, affordable housing. As of 2022, the organization has built 20 homes for Harvey County families who need improved housing but cannot qualify for a traditional mortgage. Habitat selects partner families based on need, income, and ability to make monthly payments. Homeowners contribute “sweat equity” by helping build their own homes, which are made possible through private donations, grants, volunteer labor, and support from local contractors. Each project is guided by a volunteer board and driven by a commitment to meet local needs with local solutions. For more information, visit www.harveycountyhabitat.org
